The School was started in the year 1998 with a few students and teachers. The loving care of the founders and the untiring efforts of the teachers has led the school to achieve the heights that it is today. The Good Shepherd Kindergarten was started in a building near Pallimukku, Pettah, Trivandrum. Then, as the year glided by, the strength of the school also began to increase and this demanded sufficient amount of space and other facilities for the proper upbringing of the students. The management purchased approximately two acres of land at Akkulam and began the construction work of a new school building. The completion of the new school building was definitely not an easy task. But today we have a full fledged four storied building exhibiting its elegance and grandeur. The school is equipped with all the facilities that are necessary to impart quality education to the students. To name a few – digital classrooms, Physics, Chemistry & Biology laboratories, Math lab, a well stacked library, two Computer Labs , four multipurpose halls, airy classrooms with comfortable desk and benches etc. have added to the overall development of students.

At present we have well trained and experienced teaching staff working together in harmony under the able and fruitful guidance of the Principal. The response has been overwhelming and it can be witnessed from the number of students increasing year by year. For the convenience of the students staying at far off places, school buses are allotted. Therefore, from the initial numbers of a few students to a number of approximately 2300 students in Classes I to XII speaks volumes for the quality education imparted at SGS.

The utmost dedication and hard work of the Management, Principal, teachers and the best effort of the students have brought laurels to the school in every sphere. Besides the academic activities, great encouragement is given to the students in the field of co-curricular activities. Throughout these years, the interest and spirit of the students are kept up with engaging competitions like sports, quiz, painting, inter-class debate and speech competitions etc. The secret of the success of The School Of The Good Shepherd is the blessing of the Almighty God, the hard work of the dedicated teachers, the fruitful guidance of the honorable Principal, understanding and co-operation of the parents, the interest and enthusiasm of the students and above all the encouragement and moral support of the Management.
